The Olympic Opening Ceremonies: A Parody to the Hunger Games

The opening ceremonies are always amazing to watch! Yesterday though, I couldn't help feeling a little like I was watching a real-life version of the The Hunger Games.

As they went through the different eras of European history, it felt like a display of the Panem districts. The agriculture of Rue's district; the factories of district 8 and the final "next generation" portion totally reminded me of the party at the Capitol in Mockingjay.

Then, I thought it was hilarious that they chose to play Chariots of Fire as a precursor to the Parade of Nations. Which, on a side-note, was one of my favorite parts of the whole thing. Rowan Atkinson. Hilarious.
Love Mr. Bean!

Once the Parade started all the countries had a person carrying out a little cornucopia thing. I could never figure out what the point of it was. I knew it was a tribute to each country somehow but it was such a strange shape. A cornucopia?

But then it made total sense once all the mini cornucopias ended up in the middle of the arena! Cornucopia. Middle of the arena.
Giant flame. Ha!

When the Britain team came out at the end of the parade and they were all in gold....haha! Of course. Britain: the country on fire.

Let's just hope the U.S. comes out victor in the end!!!

Happy watching

A Rootin' Tootin Good Time at the Lehi Rodeo

We have some good friends who invited us to the Lehi Rodeo.  I had never been to a rodeo before so I didn't quite know what to expect but the fun we had far exceeded my expectations! We had a rootin' tootin' good time complete with steer wrestling, carriage races, bucking bulls and broncos, barrel racing and a motocross show!

The weather and lighting was beautiful!

The chariot race was one of my favorite parts! There were two chariots: BYU against University of Utah. The BYU chariot was awesome and totally would have one but on the last lap of the race his back wheels flew off because he was going so fast!!

We loved it and will definitely be making it a new summer tradition.

What are some of your favorite summer traditions?

Photo Shoot!

I have a friend named Sarah. We met in Primary when we were 5 and she has been one of my closest and dear friends ever since. Sarah is so creative and excels in everything she does. She's also one of the most hilarious people I know. She is a photographer and an amazing one at that! She took some pictures of
Jas and I and I LOVE them!
You should check out her stuff!

Here's a little sampling of our pictures.

B Date

A few weeks ago, Jason and I went on a B date where everything (or most everything) we did started with B. It sounds super cheesy, I know, but it turned out really fun!
-We started the night off with some BBQ chicken. Time to brag: Jason has AMAZING BBQ skills! This chicken was DE-lightful! As in, I don't think I will EVER forget how tasty this chicken was. It was that good. So, things were off to a great start.
-We then bedecked ourselves in our blues and...blancos, mounted our bikes and road down Bulldog Ave., wherein a bug proceeded to fly into my eye. Gross.
-To Big-Lots we went to obtain some bubble bath.....for a baby-shower gift of course......
- Once home, we treated ourselves to some Boggle and homemade banana splits and enjoyed an episode or two of Monk...or bMonk...

I love Jason

-The End-

What are some quirky, fun dates that you do?

Disneyland Highlights

Classic picture at the Mickey face.

Happy Anniversary pins from the town hall!   We counted how many times the Disney crew  congratulated us and we got a total of 70 times! It was awesome.

We made shirts and they were awesome!
They said: "Two years ago today I married Prince Charming/my princess."

Star Tours!

Pirates of the Caribbean!

This one's for my dad.

Waiting for the Mickey Mouse Parade.

On the Pier

Squinty eyes

Flyin our kite

Playin some Monopoly Deal on the beach.

Toy Story Mania! Definitely one of our favorite rides.

Jason got me to go on CA Screamin. I was just a little scared.
My eyes were closed...the whole time.

We ate lunch by this cool jazz band and I think Jason
ended up being the washboard players biggest fan.

Sunset.

World of Color was AMAZING! Really.
One of the coolest things i've ever seen.

A few other highlights:
-Getting to surprise our Moms for Mother's Day and going to church with them!
-Seeing my wonderful friend Becca and her family at CA Adventure! And eating a late night dinner at IHOP with them.
-Jumping waves in the freezing ocean and being scared to death by a seal.
-Seeing dolphins.
-Cute little boy and his sister showing us all the fish they had caught from off the pier. They were pretty awesome actually, you know, laying stagnant and gross in a plastic bag. His latest catch still on the hook in his hands.
-Having our pictures taken as Hans Solo and Princess Leah. Some guy around Star Tours put our faces on a star wars picture and it looked awesome! Too bad it was like 35 bucks! As another option he wanted us to know we could also get our picture put on a huge blanket for the low price of a hundred bucks...you know, just for funsies!
-Splash Mountain picture poses. Enough said.
-The awesome Secrets of the Mouse book our friends let us borrow. It was so cool to look up different facts and hidden things about the rides!
-A cute old couple coming up to us after the parade and asking us if what our shirts said was true. We told them it was our 2nd anniversary that day and they got so excited because that day was their 52nd anniversary! They were adorable and totally in love.
-Fudge from Poo's Corner.
-Churro's

Disneyland!!

In exactly ONE week from now will be our 2 year anniversary. We will be at Disneyland! I am SO excited! So. Very.  Excited!

When Jason and I were Seniors in High School we went to Disneyland as part of our Choir trip and that's the last time we've been together. I went again in 2007 but needless to say, it's been a while.

Senior year of High School was kind of a funny one for us.  We both had "crushes" on each other but would never have said anything about it. In fact, this video pretty much shows the extent of our "flirting." Haha! If you could call it that. You better believe I did! :)

I love these videos. They're terrible quality but they bring back such wonderful, girlish memories.

Since it's been a while since either of us have been to Disneyland and this will be my first time at California Adventure, what are some things I need to know? What are your favorite rides and not so favorite rides? What are the must-sees and not-so-must-sees?
